The United Soybean Board (USB) supported the development of this American Society of Agronomy webinar series and the Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) Sustainability Specialty certification (SSp).
This webinar will provide an overview of the Proficiency and Competency Areas in the Sustainability Specialist PO document, with an introduction to the scenario that will be used throughout the series. A panel will discuss the question, “What is sustainability?” from the perspective of different scales and competency areas.

Sally obtained her B.S. in mathematics from Furman University, Greenville, SC and her M.S. in environmental engineering from Clemson University, Clemson, SC. She has 35 years of government service in the field of public health and the environment and has state, regional, national, and international experience. She worked for the State of South Carolina, the CDC, and primarily for the US EPA. The last half of her career at the US EPA was at the Senior Executive level and the last year there she served as the agricultural policy advisor to the Administrator. She has broad experience in regulatory programs under the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act. She managed both the national criteria pollutant and air toxics programs and numerous air and water programs for the southeast region. She is a member of the USDA Agricultural Air Quality Task Force. In April, 2009, Sally left the public sector and established her own consulting firm which specializes in agricultural and environmental policy.
Coalition on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases, DRD Associates
Debbie is the Executive Director of the Coalition on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (C-AGG), and the President/Director of DRD Associates LLC. C-AGG is a national-level multi-stakeholder coalition supporting the development of tools, technologies, programs and policies to support voluntary, incentive-based participation of the agricultural sector in GHG mitigation and environmental services opportunities. DRD Associates provides strategic, technical and policy guidance in agricultural sustainability, ecosystem services, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Debbie previously worked at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, in the US Senate, and at the US Department of Agriculture in multiple leadership roles. She holds MS and BS degrees in chemistry, human nutrition, and communications.

Josiah McClellan is the Director of Food Market Issues and Sustainability at the United Soybean Board (USB). In this role, he supports USB in developing industry and value chain partnerships, setting research priorities, communicating the sustainability performance of U.S. soybeans, and strategic planning/issues management.
